Maximized Energy Saving
Optimizing pump speed and heater usage based on the flow rate typically results in significant energy savings.
Reduced Equipment Wear
Running the motor at the required speed - and not exceeding it - will result in prolonged equipment life.
Optimal Chemical Usage
If the speed is set too high, unnecessary chemical usage occurs. With Nautis VSF, the speed is optimized, meaning chemical usage is, too.
Adapts to Changing Conditions
In an effort to maintain constant flow, Nautis VSF will sense - and adapt to - dirty filters and other conditions that reduce the flow rate.
Mobile Compatibility
Ease of use with the user-friendly BlueSync mobile app! BlueSync allows for simple setup and control of your Nautis pool pump.
Made in the USA
We are committed to the quality, sustainability, and stewardship of North American manufacturing... principles that are reflected in the Nautis VSF pump.
Stay Connected with BlueSync
The BlueSync app transforms the Nautis VSF and Nautis MCU into a fully connected, intelligent pool circulation system. Through an intuitive mobile interface, users can monitor real-time flow rates, pump performance, energy consumption, and system status from virtually anywhere. BlueSync simplifies setup and daily operation by allowing users to adjust settings, schedule operation, and receive alerts without needing to access equipment at the pool pad. Combined with the adaptive flow capabilities of the Nautis platform, BlueSync provides unmatched visibility, convenience, and control, helping pool owners and service professionals optimize performance while reducing maintenance time and operating costs.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Nautis VSF pump?
The Nautis VSF is the world's first adaptive constant flow variable speed pool pump. Unlike traditional variable speed pumps that only control RPM, the Nautis VSF measures actual water flow and automatically adjusts speed to maintain a precise, user-selected gallons-per-minute (GPM) flow rate. It is designed for both residential and commercial swimming pools and spas.
What makes the Nautis VSF different from other variable speed pool pumps?
Traditional VSP's require you to guess the correct speed/RPM. The Nautis VSF eliminates guesswork by using Eco-Flow® technology + a built-in FlowVis® flow meter. It maintains constant flow (± 2% accuracy) and it automatically compensates for dirty filters, valve changes, or added resistance, something no other pump currently does.
Is the Nautis VSF suitable for my pool size?
Yes. It is available in four Total Horsepower (THP) ratings and works excellently on residential pools as well as many commercial applications. Choose the model based on your required flow rate and system head.
How does Eco-Flow® technology actually work?
The pump continuously reads flow data from the integrated FlowVis® FV-2-N flow meter. If flow drops below your target (e.g., filter gets dirty), the pump automatically increases speed just enough to restore the exact GPM you set. When conditions improve, it reduces speed to save energy.
What are the real-world benefits of constant flow vs. constant speed?
- Consistent turnover and water quality
- Optimized heater/heat pump performance
- Reduced energy consumption (pump only runs as hard as needed)
- Less equipment wear
- More predictable chemical usage and distribution
- Fewer service calls related to poor circulation
How accurate is the flow control?
The Nautis VSF maintains flow accuracy within approximately ±2% under normal operating conditions.
What models are available and what are the key specs?
- NAU-V165 for 1.65THP
- NAU-V270 for 2.7THP
- NAU-V345 for 3.45THP
Non-adaptive flow/standard variable speed models are also available in the same horsepower ratings. The model numbers for these units are the same, simply replacing the 'V' in the part numbers above with a 'B'. Additional technical specifications on each model can be found in the section below.
What is included with the pump?
Every Nautis VSF includes the integrated FlowVis® FV-2-N, 2" flow meter, FlowVis Digital sensor and Nautis Motor Control Unit (MCU). A riser kit is available separately for direct replacement of taller Pentair® WhisperFlo® or IntelliFlo® pumps.
Is the Nautis VSF a drop-in replacement?
Yes, it is engineered as a direct drop-in replacement for:
- Hayward® Super Pump®
- Pentair® SuperFlo®
- Pentair® WhisperFlo® (with optional riser)
- Sta-Rite® SuperMax®
What plumbing size does Nautis VSF use?
2-inch ports (standard for most modern installations).
Can I install it myself?
Basic plumbing and electrical knowledge is helpful, but we strongly recommend installation for electrical connections, bonding, and proper priming/alignment. The pump features quick-disconnect unions and a service-friendly 4-bolt design.
Does it work with my existing automation system?
Yes. It has discrete switch inputs for easy integration with most automation systems. Full smart control is available via the free BlueSync™ mobile app.
How do I control the pump and set my desired flow rate?
Use the intuitive BlueSync™ mobile app (iOS/Android) to:
- Set your target GPM
- Monitor real-time flow, speed, power, and runtime
- Receive alerts and notifications
- Schedule boost/turnover cycles
You can also use simple automation switches.
Can the pump run dry?
Yes, safely for up to 1 hour.
How easy is the Nautis VSF to service?
Very service-friendly!
- 4-bolt housing design with integrated handle
- Lid lock ring with ergonomic handles
- LED light inside the basket lid for easy inspection
- Quick-disconnect unions
- Wet-tested at the factory before shipping
What maintenance is required?
Standard pool pump care: keep the basket clean, inspect O-rings periodically, and ensure proper water chemistry. The adaptive flow feature actually helps by preventing the pump from over-working against a dirty filter.
How much energy will I save?
Savings vary by pool size, usage, climate, and previous pump, but users and testing show significant reductions because the pump never runs faster than necessary to achieve your target flow/optimal turnover rate. It also improves heater efficiency by delivering constant flow rates.
Is the Nautis VSF good for heat pumps or gas heaters?
It's an excellent choice for either heater type. Consistent flow rate is critical for heat pump performance and longevity. The Nautis VSF maintains the ideal flow in your heater needs without manual speed adjustments.
Does Nautis VSF help with chemical distribution and water clarity?
Yes. By maintaining proper turnover rates automatically, it provides even more chemical distribution and better overall water quality.
What is the warranty on the Nautis VSF?
2-year limited manufacturer warranty (registration recommended).
Where is the pump made?
Proudly manufactured in the United States (Toledo, Ohio area).
Where can I get support or the full manual?
- Official site: h2flow.net/nautis-vsf-pump
- Downloads: Brochure, flyer, and manuals are available in the support section of this site.
- BlueSync app support and product registration also available on this site.
The pump isn't maintaining my target flow rate. What should I check?
- Dirty or clogged filter (most common)
- Debris in pump basket or impeller
- Closed or partially closed valves
- Air leaks on suction side
- Target GPM set too high for current system conditions (the pump will ramp to maximum safe speed). The pump will automatically increase speed as needed and alert you via the app if it cannot reach target.
Is there a Nautis version for people who already have a variable speed pump?
Yes. H2flow offers the Nautis MCU (Motor Control Unit) retrofit solution that adds Eco-Flow® constant flow capability to many existing variable speed pumps when paired with a FlowVis® flow meter.
